A common problem we found regarding the functionality of QuickUpdate is that customers install the application and do not get anything displayed on the screen.

The problem:
Prestashop has a configuration setting in "/config/config.inc.php" named "display_errors", which comes standard as "off". This setting should be set to "on" only for debugging purposes.

The solution:
If this setting is set to "on", edit "/config/config.inc.php" and change it to "off"

I'm having the problem you described here with my new install of PS 1.4.0.17 (I don't see any product data in QuickUpdate), but the fix you have described was not the problem (it was already set to "off").

Any other ideas?
